There are many reasons to desire recontouring of the body. For some, it is a genetic distribution of fatty tissue, which can result in fullness in the love handles, tummy, and thighs. Additionally, stress occurs to the body after pregnancies and/or massive weight loss, which can result in extra skin around the tummy and stretching of the muscles. In addressing these problems, plastic surgery has been able to provide recontouring and a new shape for the challenged body. It is, however, a partnership. The patient must participate significantly with diet and exercise to attain near ideal body weight prior to most surgical procedures.

LIPOSUCTION AND ABDOMINOPLASTY
Liposuction is a useful tool in many body rejuvenation strategies. A solution of salt water mixed with numbing medicine and medication to prevent bruising is placed into the tissues. Fat is removed by using long thin rods. Additional techniques such as ultrasound and laser are utilized in certain circumstances. The entire procedure is done through tiny incisions that are well hidden by the creases of your skin. While liposuction may improve your body’s contour, it can’t improve loose skin. Additional skin tightening techniques are often needed.

TUMESCENT LIPOSUCTION
Tumescent liposuction (or liposculpture) has been used in body contouring for about 20 years. Tumescent liposuction is a technique that involves introducing a solution of local anesthesia and other medication into the layer of skin that holds most of the fat that needs to be removed. After the injection, the fat and solution are vacuumed out. This method allows for less pain and bleeding, more efficiency, and quicker healing. After the procedure, an elastic garment that presses against the body helps your skin to heal around your newly contoured body.

ULTRASONIC LIPOSUCTION

Vaser® LipoSelection Techinque

In addition to tumescent liposuction we also offer a liposuction procedure called 'Vaser® LipoSelection'. This liposuction method varies from tumescent liposuction, but the purpose is the same: to make fat tissue deposit removal faster, more accurate and less painful, thus improving overall results.

Vaser® LipoSelection involves the use of ultrasonic or high frequency sound energy to break up fat tissue before vacuuming it out of the body. The broken-up fatty tissue is easier to remove with ultrasonic liposuction, allowing for a safer and shorter liposuction procedure. Results are improved in many circumstances.

ABDOMINOPLASTY
Many patients seek a tummy tuck, also known as Abdominoplasty, for a variety of reasons. Multiple techniques can be performed to remove skin and to tighten the musculature. The incision and resultant scar are placed very low, just above the pubic hair. If the patient already has an incision from a C-section or a hysterectomy, this incision is used and sometimes made slightly longer. The length of the incision determines the amount of skin that can be removed. Through this incision, the muscles are tightened, and the skin is then pulled in a downward direction to provide a tight and smooth contour. Oftentimes, this is performed in conjunction with liposuction, as it is a wonderful addition to improve the love handles and improve the contour of the waist. The recovery for a tummy tuck varies with the magnitude of the procedure. During your consultation, we will examine the amount of fat, the amount of skin, and the looseness of the tummy wall muscles. We will develop a customized plan to address your concerns.
